Getting started
Is Big Font free?
Yes. Big Font and all eight tools are free. The app shows ads; a one-time purchase called Pro removes them for good. Nothing else is locked.
Which phones does it work on?
Android phones and tablets running Android 8.0 or newer. It's not available for iPhone.
Do I need an account?
No. There's nothing to sign up for.
Why is it called “A+ Big Font” in the app?
That's the app's name on your phone. On Google Play it's listed as “Big Font - Change Font Size”. It's the same app.
Text size
Will bigger text work in all my apps?
Big Font changes your phone's system text size, so most apps follow it. A few apps use their own fixed size; for those, use Read screen.
What's the biggest size?
350%. You can choose anything from 50% to 350%.
Some words are cut off. What should I do?
Very large sizes don't fit in every app. Go down one or two steps — 150% to 200% suits most people.
How do I go back to normal?
Open Big Font and tap Apply on 100% (Default), or tap Undo right after a change.
If I uninstall Big Font, does the text go back to normal?
No — your phone keeps the last size you chose. Set it back to 100% in Big Font before uninstalling, or later in SettingsDisplay.
It asks to “modify system settings”. Is that safe?
Yes. That permission is what lets an app change the phone's text size. Big Font uses it only for that.
Read screen, Magnifier and Read paper
Why does Read screen need Accessibility?
That's how Android lets an app show a button over other apps and read the text on screen. Big Font only reads when you tap the Read button, and the text is never saved or sent.
How do I hide the Read button?
Drag it to another spot with your finger, or turn Read screen off in SettingsAccessibilityA+ Big Font.
There's no voice when it reads.
Your phone needs a text-to-speech voice for that language. Check SettingsAccessibilityText-to-speech and install the voice, then turn the media volume up.
Are my photos of papers uploaded?
No. Text is recognised on the phone. Your last 10 papers stay on the phone and are not included in backups. If you choose “Open in Google Lens”, the photo is handed to that app.
Medicine reminders
The reminder didn't ring.
Make sure the time is switched on in Medicine, notifications are allowed for Big Font, and the phone isn't in Do Not Disturb. Some phones also stop apps in the background — allow Big Font to run in the background in the battery settings.
Can it read the reminder out loud?
Yes. Turn on “Read out loud when it's time”. If you don't press anything, it reminds you again 10 minutes later.
Ads, Pro and privacy
How do I remove ads?
Tap the Pro icon at the top of Big Font. It's a single, one-time purchase through Google Play — not a subscription.
I bought Pro on another phone.
Sign in to the new phone with the same Google account and open Big Font; Pro is restored automatically.
What data does Big Font collect?
Ads and anonymous usage and crash statistics, through Google services. Never your screen text, papers, contacts or notes. Read the privacy policy
